Dear the Church Family at Faith Baptist Church
Thank you for the warm welcome you have given me as your interim pastor. It is exciting that I am getting to be a part of your fellowship. I rejoice to see your devotion to the Lord Jesus, your spirited worship, your care and concern for each other, and your desire to share the Good News. It is also a blessing that so many of you serve in and through the church. Paul writes in Ephesians 4:11-12 that ministers are to equip believers for the work of ministry. I am most pleased that such has happened at Faith Baptist. In many sports, such as football and baseball, it takes a team effort to win. The coach does not play every position himself. Likewise, in a church the ministers are to put the ministry in the hands of the members as God works through all of us to accomplish his purposes.
I have a special request of you as a member of Faith Baptist Church. I want and very much need you to pray for me. Here is a list of the things I need for you to pray for me as I lead you through this interim period:
1. Power from the Holy Spirit to teach and preach. Colossians 4:3
2. To be truly helpful to church members and others in my ministry tasks (visiting sick, counseling, work in community, etc.) Romans 12:15
3. To have God’s guidance in administrative matters. Romans 12:8camily,
4. My personal walk with God, devotional life, and courage and devotion to follow Christ. Micah 6:8; Matthew 16:24
5. Wisdom and power for evangelism and missions. Matthew 28:19a
6. God’s guidance in sermon preparation. 2 Timothy 2:15
7. Family, finances, personal decisions, and rest and renewal. I Timothy 3:2-4a; Exodus 20:10a, 11
You have many leaders in the church, including the Senior Leadership Team, the deacons, Sunday School teachers, men’s and women’s leaders, various ministry teams, other church officers, etc. Keep these in your prayers as well. The effectiveness of a church depends on strength and guidance from God. Pray for all who lead in Faith Baptist Church that they may be guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Again, I am grateful to be a part of your church and am looking forward to what God is going to be doing in our church and community as we serve him together.
Your pastor, Ken Harmon
